Tasks
Tasks are a global to-do list built into Mad Lit. They live in the Tasks panel (accessible from the sidebar) and can optionally be embedded directly inside any page.
Creating tasks
Open the Tasks panel from the sidebar and click + New task. Give the task a title. Optionally add notes, a due date, an importance marker, or an assignee.
You can also create tasks from inside a page using the /task slash command. Tasks created this way are embedded — they appear as a clickable checkbox in the page and also show up in the Tasks panel.
Standalone vs. embedded tasks
Standalone tasks exist only in the Tasks panel — useful for personal to-dos that don't belong to a specific document.
Embedded tasks are attached to a page. They appear as an interactive todo block in the page editor, so you can see and check them off without leaving the document. They're also visible in the Tasks panel's by-page view.
Completing tasks
Click the checkbox next to a task to mark it done. Done tasks move to the Completed section. You can reopen a completed task at any time.
Filtering
The Tasks panel can be filtered by status (active, done, or all), by page, by assignee, and by importance. Use these to focus on what matters without deleting anything.
Using tasks with Claude
If you've connected the Claude connector, you can ask Claude to create tasks for you — standalone or embedded on a specific page. Claude can also list your open tasks, mark them complete, and add notes.
